How to join UKCHO

Membership Criteria

Gaining Membership of UKCHO

Organisations which meet the following criteria are eligible for Registering Membership of UKCHO:

a) They register hypnotherapists;

b) They have an acceptable code of ethics and practice, disciplinary procedure, equal opportunities policy, and complaints procedure;

c) They have a formal system for accrediting prior learning for practitioners who seek registration, but who have not trained with an associated training school;

d) New registering bodies will need to be established for not less than 24 months before being accepted for membership;

e) They are not tied to a particular school, college or institute;

f) They have a minimum of 50 registrants of any practitioner grade; and

g) They have made an application to UKCHO.

Once approved the Organisation may use the following designation: “Registering Member of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations.”

Registering Membership is designed to protect practitioner and client rights, and is not to infer any approval of any individual registrant’s training.

2. Organisations which meet the following criteria are eligible for Accrediting Membership of UKCHO.a) They are currently engaged in independently accrediting hypnotherapy training bodies;

b) Their procedures are open, transparent and conducted in the spirit of the aims and objectives of UKCHO;

c) New accrediting bodies will need to be in existence for not less than 24 months before being accepted for membership; and

d) They have made an application to UKCHO.

Once approved the Organisation may use the following designation: “Accrediting Member of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations.”

Registering Organisations who accredit schools independent of their Organisation and meet the above criteria may use the designation: “Registering and Accrediting Member of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations.”.

 

3. Organisations which meet the following criteria are eligible for Associate Membership of UKCHO:

a) They provide hypnotherapy training courses which consist of a minimum of 120 hours face to face teaching and a minimum of 450 hours study;

b) They adhere to the National Occupational Standards for Hypnotherapy;

c) They are accredited by an “Accrediting Member of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations.”

Once approved the Organisation may use the following designation: “Associate Member of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations.” Such Organisations are entitled to attend meetings, and publicize their membership status and appear in UKCHO publications and on the website, but will not have a vote.

 

4. Organisations which have an interest in hypnotherapy, but do not fulfil any of the above functions, may apply to be “Friends of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations.” Such Organisations are entitled to attend meetings, and publicize their membership status and appear in UKCHO publications and on the website, but will not have a vote.
